Also known as "popcorn" or "cottage cheese"
ceilings, these sprayed-on textures were a staple in home building from the 1950s through the mid-1980s. They were called
"acoustic" because, theoretically, their rough surface prevents echoes.
Over time, the rough ceiling texture made
of plaster, gypsum & crushed Styrofoam began losing some it its "luster" as consumer preference switched to
smooth ceilings. Acoustic ceilings today are no longer popular & is negative on property value for re-sale.

We take pride in our preparation for acoustic ceiling removal.
Our customers need to remove wall pictures, decorator items & easy removable furniture from the work area. As popcorn
ceilings are very messy, our preparation for removal is done with great care. We create a containment floor to ceiling.
Two layers are placed on the work area floor; one for popcorn and the other containment for floating nail holes, joint lines
and re-texturing.
|

We spray the popcorn ceiling with water, usually 4-5 square feet
at a time. Once the acoustic ceiling has absorbed the water, we begin the process of removal.

|

The moistened ceiling comes off fairly easily.
|
|

We then float the nail holes and joint lines and do all the preparation
for re-texturing.
